RIGHT NOW, YOU’RE IN THE BEST OF HANDS + TERRORHAWK AVAILABLE SEPTEMBER 9TH
PRE-ORDER THE VINYL HERE:
Bear Vs Shark, the Detroit mainstays who disbanded in 2005 after two tremendous LPs, have announced a limited double vinyl re-issue of both LP’s Right Now, You’re in the Best of Hands and Terrorhawk via their original label home Equal Vision Records. With new cover art by BVS singer Marc Paffi the 2xLP reissue will arrive September 9th in white, black and clear 180G vinyl with a gatefold jacket [1000 white via webstore, 500 black tour exclusive, 500 clear via stores]. The remastered reissue will also be available digitally on the same date. Additionally, the band has announced they’ve reunited for 7 select dates that include New York’s Bowery Ballroom, Philadelphia, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Chicago, a hometown Detroit date – as well as an already sold out Flint, Michigan show. Tickets for all shows go on sale this Wednesday, May 11th at 10:00amlocal time and will be available at http://bearvssharkmusic.com/.
Last October, social media fervor pushed the envelope for the band sparking the idea to reunite. When three former members were on a stage together, a photo went live on Facebook with a caption that toyed it an as-yet-unconfirmed (and unconceived) reunion. Needless to say, their cult following jumped at the idea. Luckily, Equal Vision had long been eager to facilitate a proper vinyl reissue of both records. The touring band will consists of original members John Gaviglio, Derek Kiesgen, Marc Paffi as well as Brandon Moss and Ashley Horak switching off on drum duties for different dates. While Muldoon opted to sit this one out, bassist Nick Jones (who currently plays in Bars of Gold with Moss and Paffi) will be filling in. BVS hit this primal sweet spot for a lot of listeners. Not too pissed. Not too anthemic. Not too nostalgic and not too instrumentally self-indulgent. The adrenaline-pumping, aerodynamic rock tunes of BVS feel like a secret formula of sorts because it was something heavy, something intense, something fast, that never wore you down. It was acrobatic and, at times, aerobic, but never tired you out. It was contemplative and blunt but never exhausted your emotional core.
