Indie-folk artist Brian Marquis has just wrapped up the A Bike & A Mic For A Cure Tour where he rode 1,225 miles on a bicycle, with his guitar in tow, playing shows around the Northeast to raise money and awareness for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, on behalf of the volunteer group Spaghetti Arms.

Through the unique venture, Marquis was also able to raise over $10,000 that will be donated to support research, care, community outreach, and education for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy – the most common fatal genetic disorder diagnosed in early childhood.

“I wanted to take touring to a new level personally, by mixing elements I love beyond music – athleticism, the outdoors, and cycling – and doing something bigger than myself and for a greater good,” shares Marquis. “Playing in small rooms and at house shows, I was able to bring awareness to the cause in an intimate way that I feel will have a more lasting impact than just an online campaign would have alone – and the cycling element gave people another reason to be engaged and get involved. It was the hardest tour I have ever done but also the most rewarding. I am in awe of what we were able to accomplish in just three short weeks and the support we received with online donations and at the shows was incredible.”

Marquis will head back out on a more traditional tour this Fall with Onward, ETC. The co-headlining run will kick off on November 6 in Tyler, TX .

This past Summer, Marquis performed daily in the Acoustic Basement Tent of the Vans Warped Tour in support of his new release, I Miss The 90’s EP. Prior to the two month run throughout North America, Marquis performed on a string of sold out dates supporting The Dear Hunter and Northern Faces.

The EP features five covers of 90s favorites and follows his debut full-length album (of originals) called Blood & Spirits. Marquis’ latest music video for his cover of “Say It Ain’t So” from the EP, can be seen HERE now. The song also features guest vocals / appearances by Vinnie Caruana (The Movielife, I Am the Avalanche), Will Noon (fun., Straylight Run) on drums, Julio Tavarez (The Black and The White, As Tall As Lions) on bass, and Doug Grean (Scott Weiland, The Terpsichords) on piano/keyboards.
