PANCAKES AND WHISKEY PREMIERES UPGRADE’S (NSFW) MUSIC VIDEO FOR “NEW AGE LOVE”

Upgrade’s new (nsfw) music video for “New Age Love” is premiering now, exclusively via Pancakes and Whiskey.

“I started writing this when I was just fed up and annoyed with the way relationships are portrayed on social media,” reveals the Upstate NY-based rapper. “Everything seems forced and done for the approval of others. I just started feeling that the idea of love or falling in love, being with someone you claim to love, had become so insincere and dishonest. It’s the longest song on the album and I still feel like I could have written another five verses and not be finished. Or maybe I’m just single, bitter and lonely.”

Upgrade has just wrapped up a full US run with Sadistik and Weerd Science (Josh Eppard of Coheed and Cambria) and will kick off his first run of summer dates next week, with a one-off show in Albany, NY followed by a series of shows supporting ECID and Bleubird. He is currently touring in support of his debut-full length Chemical Imbalance: Another Dose, which was released in late 2015 via Equal Vision Records.

Though Upgrade stands out stylistically as the only hip hop artist on Equal Vision Records’ roster, a shared appreciation for musical authenticity, passion and a strong work ethic finds him right at home alongside a truly diverse label lineup that includes Say Anything, Saves The Day, Polyphia, and Being As An Ocean and alumni such as Coheed and Cambria, Circa Survive, Pierce The Veil and Portugal. The Man.

Venturing into dark lyrical territories, Chemical Imbalance: Another Dose explores anxiety, insecurity and addiction – and opens up a massively important conversation about the realities of struggling with mental illness – and what it’s like to live with panic disorders and depression. While his music is inherently serious and a raw portrait of his darker life experiences, Upgrade’s live performances showcase a completely different side filled with charm and humor, instantly getting crowds chanting, singing and clapping along – creating an energetic and inclusive environment that’s truly unforgettable.

Upgrade has shared stages with the likes of Mac Miller, Styles P, Chris Webby, Saigon, and Big Sean – and with bands such as I the Mighty, Hail The Sun, and Too Close to Touch – proving that his charisma, talent and storytelling skills expand far beyond the limitations of a single genre.
