Set It Off to donate to VH1 Save The Music

Tampa, FL’s Set It Off is proud to announce their support of VH1 Save The Music Foundation, in conjunction with the forthcoming release of their new full-length album Cinematics.

Set It Off will be donating one dollar for every record sold in the US, leading up to and during the first week of the album’s release, to VH1 Save The Music. The band will also add a bonus to the donation, to create a total of $5000, if they reach their goal of No. 1 on the Billboard Heatseekers Chart. Equal Vision Records will match the band’s donation amount, doubling the total amount going to VH1 Save the Music Foundation. Cinematics will be available in stores and online on September 18.

The VH1 Save The Music Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to restoring instrumental music education programs in America’s public schools, and raising awareness about the importance of music as part of each child’s complete education. To date, VH1 Save The Music has provided more than $48 million in new musical instruments to 1,800 public schools in more than 100 cities around the country, impacting the lives of over 1.8 million children.

“We’re honored to be working with VH1 Save The Music. If it wasn’t for the music education program in my high school, Set It Off would not exist,” states founding member and frontman Cody Carson. “I would not have met our guitarist, Dan Clermont, I wouldn’t have been directed toward Oberlin Music Conservatory, and I wouldn’t end up with even half of the musical knowledge I possess now. More people need to be able to experience the unity, leadership skills, and work ethic taught by being involved in music education programs in schools. Set It Off strongly endorses this organization for these, among many other, reasons. We’re so excited to raise money for them and help spread the word about the importance of music education.”

Set It Off has just launched their exclusive album pre-order bundles through MerchNOW and has revealed that a digital deluxe version will also be available on iTunes featuring three additional tracks. The extra songs will include “Swan Song (acoustic)”, “I’ll Sleep When I’m Dead (acoustic)” and the demo version of a brand new song called “You Are Loved”.

Carson elaborates on the emotional experience that inspired the new song stating, “In 2010 we visited Canada during a tour and met one of the members of our dedicated fan base, the S!O family, for the third time. She always seemed so bubbly and happy. Two months after we left, we found out that she had taken her own life. We were devastated to say the least.”

He continues, “We have had a lot of people come up to us and tell us that they were considering taking their life recently but our music helped them change their minds. I was at a low point in my life when I was younger too, where I thought I saw an easy way out but I kept pushing through. This song was written by me as a message to all those who go through the ridicule, the depression, the destructive thoughts, etc. I want to let people know that as much as ANYONE may feel that nobody cares…there is always someone out there who loves them, including us. Take this as cliché. Take it as you will, I don’t care what anyone thinks – as long as you know that we actually care.”

Set It Off is comprised of Carson [vocals], Dan Clermont [guitar], Zach DeWall [guitar], Austin Kerr [bass], and Maxx Danziger [drums]. The band recently debuted “I’ll Sleep When I’m Dead” – the first single off of Cinematics, which is now available on Youtube and iTunes. They will release their next single, “Swan Song”, on August 28.

Lastly, Set It Off announces that they have added a short Canadian headlining run with Sparks The Rescue, just prior to their upcoming US tour with There For Tomorrow. All upcoming shows can be seen below.
