On July 16, Tallhart will release their new full-length album, We Are the Same, on Rory Records - Max Bemis of Say Anything's imprint label within Equal Vision Records.
The album was recorded in Los Angeles, CA with producer Brad Wood [Smashing Pumpkins, Sunny Day Real Estate, Say Anything], with additional tracking at Red Room Studios in Tampa, FL.
Guitarist Christopher "Boomer" Brickman reflects on the recording experience noting, "Brad Wood is one of the most fantastic people I've ever met. He was patient with us. He let us figure out ideas on the fly, but his ideas were always welcomed and I honestly think 10 out of 10 times, we used them. He pushed Matt [Segallos, vocals] to do things he had never done. He had the ear for every guitar tone/effect combination that we sought after. He knew when to make an executive decision...and it was always for the best."
He continues, "Everything on the record is very organic sounding from the snare drum to the acoustic to the percussion. We wanted to make a rock n roll record with very natural sounding instruments. We wanted the album to sound real. And with Brad's touch, it does. By the end of recording, I honestly felt like Brad and I were old friends. Months later, we still talk on a weekly basis, and I feel so privileged to have worked with him."
The new album offers the rich, grandiose compositions elegantly displaying the band's range while remaining cohesive. Segallos' soulful vocals pour gracefully over lush, atmospheric guitars, precise percussion work and jazzy bass lines, all while effortlessly displaying a simultaneous sense of sweetness and sadness. On We Are the Same, Tallhart have managed to merge lines of Americana, folk, soul, pop and rock, resulting in a distinctly unique sound that simply soars. With just the slightest hint of southern twang and the ability to layer and seamlessly interchange between full, robust vocals, delicate falsettos and deep, emotionally aggressive expressions, Tallhart masterfully balances their rock sensibilities with softer, cutting tracks, deeply immersing the listener and shining as they create a vivid world of love, loss, lust and life through powerful music and lyrics.
The Tampa, FL-based indie outfit also recently announced their upcoming summer co-headline tour with From Indian Lakes, with support from Makeshift Prodigy. Tallhart has toured and shared stages with the likes of Dashboard Confessional, Say Anything, Kevin Devine, Murder By Death, Eisley and more. All upcoming tour dates can be found below.
