A LOT LIKE BIRDS PREMIERES NEW SONG/MUSIC VIDEO WITH NOISEY
Sacramento rock band A Lot Like Birds has premiered a music video for their new track “The Sound Of Us” today via Noisey. “The Sound Of Us” is the second single from the band’s forthcoming album DIVISI, which will be released on May 5th, 2017 via Equal Vision Records. Pre-orders for the album are available now and can be purchased, here: alotlikebirds.merchnow.com.
“This song was a way of telling a story about a couple in love that steals stars and light from all over the galaxy,” lead singer Cory Lockwood shares. “Eventually their love fades, and one of them abandons the other. As he’s passing alone and lost and unable to breathe, he thinks about how much of the time they spent together was in silence. He mistook that silence for peace and unspoken love when it was actually just a disconnect, and as he realizes it, he suddenly can’t stand the silence around him. This song is his series of dying thoughts.”
Guitarist Michael Franzino adds: “We really wanted the concept of this video to be subtle, and allow for enough room for the viewer to make their own interpretations. We wanted it to feel very uncanny/incongruent, to establish this sort of dreamlike eerie mood.”
In support of the new album, A Lot Like Birds will be embarking on a North American headline tour this spring with Household, Hearts Like Lions, and OWEL. The tour kicks off in Albuquerque on April 25th, with VIP ticket packages, including an exclusive acoustic performance, available now, here: alotlikebirds.soundrink.com. After releasing three full-length albums, No Place (2013), Conversation Piece (2011) and Plan B (2009), signing to Equal Vision Records, and touring around the world nearly non-stop for five years straight, A Lot Like Birds began recording their fourth full-length album on April 19, 2016. Armed with a new lineup of Cory Lockwood (vocals), Michael Franzino (guitar), Ben Wiacek (guitar), Joseph Arrington (drums) and newcomer Matt Coate (vocals, bass), and working with Sacramento-based producer Dryw Owens (From Indian Lakes, Sianvar), the band entered the studio – unaware of just how much time, energy and passion would go into the process of creating this new album, that will mark a new era for the band upon its release.
An all-encompassing, all-consuming emotional experience, DIVISI is an album about life and death, and about love and heartbreak. It is about acknowledging your past and facing your future. It’s about starting over, without forgetting where you’ve been. And about remembering those who inspired you to be the person you are and the person you still strive to be. DIVISI is about the change and growth that A Lot Like Birds not only wanted, but needed.
DIVISI will be released on May 5th, 2017 via Equal Vision Records. For more information, please visit: alotlikebirds.com
