CROOKS UK PREMIERES “SCHÖNE SEELE” MUSIC VIDEO; ANNOUNCES ALBUM FOR OCT 30
Crooks UK, hailing from Cheltenham, UK has announced their new, highly-anticipated full length. The band will digitally release Are We All the Same Distance Apart on October 30 via Headphone Music / Equal Vision Records. A physical release will follow soon after, with an expected retail release date of November 27.
Today, Crooks UK is also premiering a new music video for “Schöne Seele” from their forthcoming album at youtube.com/equalvision, where their recently released video for “A Few Peaceful Days” can also be seen.
Pre-orders are available now at crooksuk.merchnow.com and via iTunes, and include instant MP3 downloads of “Schöne Seele” and “A Few Peaceful Days”.
The album was produced by Dan Lancaster (Bring Me The Horizon, 5 Seconds of Summer), with Nick Scholey and James Bragg; And mixed and mastered by Lancaster, as well.
“The idea for the video came about one evening when we were all hanging out in an abandoned quarry in the middle of the woods,” says guitarist Oli Bendall. “We had a completey different concept up until that point but were still so indecisive about it all. We all love the woods and being this time of year, we wanted it to look as natural and autumnal as possible. We straight away thought that this was the best way to portray the song and band in the way we felt best suits.”
Guitarist Alex Pay shares of the new release, “For this album we really took a step back and all spoke about what we wanted to achieve with these songs. We all listened to our previous releases and picked them apart, decided what worked and what didn’t work. Also, touring a lot for the past year really helped us notice what works well musically for us. We took everything that we enjoyed playing as a band and pushed it.”
“Schöne Seele was actually the first song that got finished when we were in the studio,” he continues. “I still remember the first time I listened to it, it was such an overwhelming feeling. Josh and our producer Dan recorded all the vocals in the second studio, whilst we were recording all of the guitars in the main studio. I remember Josh and Dan coming back in after a few hours at work and saying they had finished the track. I remember just sitting there and being so proud, and just wanting to show it to everyone.”
Standing out among the chaotic instrumental fervor on the album – featuring a welcome balance of exceptionally intricate drumming and lush, airy guitarwork – is frontman Josh Rogers, whose transfixing vocal range effortlessly glides from a rich, raspy tone to a truly stunning and delicate falsetto.
To date, the band has toured and shared stages with the likes of Mallory Knox, Hands Like Houses, Transit, Gallows, Your Demise, Marmozets and Basement. They will next head out on a European run supporting Our Last Night. All upcoming tour dates can be seen below.
Crooks UK is comprised of Josh Rogers (vocals), Alex Pay (guitar, vocals), Jacob Dutton-Keen (bass), Oli Bendall (guitar), Jack Batchelor (drums).
