Diffuser.fm premieres A Lot Like Birds new album ‘No Place’

Sacramento, CA’s A Lot Like Birds is now premiering their third full-length album, No Place, on Diffuser.fm. The dynamic ten track album, which is out today on Equal Vision Records, takes listeners on an eerie roller coaster of beautiful chaos, with arching cinematic interludes laced between destructive gut-wrenching, chill-inducing masterpieces.

The complex construction of No Place sets one into a mesmerizing world of darkness and dread led by urgency, intensity and fear. Thematically the album revolves around a single concept, exploring the emotions behind rooms in a home.

This week, Rock Sound has deemed A Lot Like Birds their ‘Band of The Week’. An intricate track-by-track feature written by the band can be found on RockSound.tv giving further insight into the writing and recording process for No Place.

The sextet also debuted their music video for “Next To Ungodliness” on Friday via Youtube, garnering over 12k views in just 24 hours. The intense video can be found HERE. The video was filmed in Sacramento, CA with director Michael Elinn.

Co-vocalist Cory Lockwood says of the writing process for the song, “The bathroom was a song idea that I had wanted to flesh out since the beginning but as each song was written, the bathroom never fully came together – until we got to Portland. While we were up there we decided to add it. Mikey spent a day in a house alone with direction from the rest of us (we wanted something aggressive, short and loud) and came back with this song. It worked perfectly. Bathrooms are where people do everything they would never want the rest of the world to see. And even though you would never want anybody else to see you there, it’s one of the only rooms where you get a chance to look at yourself. It’s so private and odd; it’s where a person can either be vain or self-deprecating; fantasize about their incredible future or scrutinize themselves to the point that they want everything to end.”

A Lot Like Birds features duel vocalists, Cory Lockwood and Kurt Travis, who seamlessly intertwine, layer and harmonize while interchanging singing, screaming and spoken word duties, guitarists Michael Franzino and Ben Wiacek, bassist Michael “Butter” Littlefield and drummer Joe Arrington.

The band will kick off their full US headline tour today, October 29, in Atlanta, GA with support from HRVRD, Night Verses and My Iron Lung and will wrap up the run on November 25 in their hometown of Sacramento, CA. All upcoming tour dates can be found below.
