Equal Vision Records’ SXSW Showcase announced

FEB 19 – Indie labels Equal Vision Records and Pure Noise Records will team up for a combined day party / double label showcase at SXSW 2014 in Austin, TX on March 13 in the G-Pen Annex (Red River & 6th Street). The free, all-ages show, presented by Sound Rink, is open to the public and will take place from 12-6pm. Doors will open at 11:45am.

Performers include a mix of artists from both Equal Vision Records and Pure Noise Records, as well as two special guests. The eclectic lineup features The Story So Far, Gameface, Being As An Ocean, The American Scene, A Lot Like Birds, To The Wind, My Iron Lung, and From Indian Lakes.

Performing as direct support to The Story So Far is Southern California’s pop punk pioneers Gameface, who will release their sixth full-length studio album, Now is What Matters Now, on March 18. This will be the band’s first release on Equal Vision Records and their first new album in over a decade. SXSW will also be the band’s first performance since their 2012 reunion, which included Revelation Records’ 25th Anniversary Shows. They will follow up their SXSW performance with a special hometown CD release show on March 22 at Alex’s Bar in Long Beach, CA.

Now is What Matters Now features the musicianship of Gameface’s Every Last Time (1999) and the heart of Three To Get Ready (1995) while lyrically focusing on letting go of the past, forgetting regret and moving forward to make the most of ‘now’. To date, the band has premiered two tracks from the forthcoming album including “Come On Down”, which premiered on RollingStone.com and “Swing State”, which recently premiered on VICE’s Noisey Blog. Equal Vision Records’ A Lot Like Birds will also perform on the bill, in support of their stunning new album, No Place, which takes listeners on an eerie roller coaster of beautiful chaos, with arching cinematic interludes laced between destructive gut-wrenching, chill-inducing masterpieces. Thematically the album revolves around a single concept, exploring the emotions behind rooms in a home. The band recently recorded an intense live session for Daytrotter that can be heard HERE and also recently unveiled a spectacular new animated music video for “Connector” that can be seen HERE.

Following two back-to-back headline tours, the band will next hit the road, en route to SXSW, supporting Being As An Ocean – who will also perform at the showcase as a special guest. This summer, A Lot Like Birds will head out on the first half of the 2014 Vans Warped Tour.
