HRVRD’s “Cardboard Houses” and “Parts & Labor” Now Available Digitally

Charlotte, NC’s HRVRD has digitally released two brand new tracks, “Cardboard Houses” and “Parts & Labor” – through online retailers such as iTunes and Amazon.

The songs will also be released together as a 7” vinyl later this year, with details to be announced soon. The five-piece indie outfit kicks off a coast to coast US tour tomorrow, September 5, in Nashville, TN. On the tour, HRVRD will perform songs off of their previous full-length, The Inevitable and I, as well as select songs off of the band’s forthcoming full-length album that will be released in early 2013, including “Cardboard Houses”. All upcoming tour dates can be seen below.

“This song is a glimpse in to new territories of sound for us, while remaining true to our rock-band format. You can take the dynamics of the song and imagine all of those sounds expounded upon in their own right on the record. There are acoustics, brushes, piano, lots of guitar feedback…but it all fits together and still manages to get pretty loud,” explains HRVRD vocalist Jesse Clasen of the new song.

“I’d rather let people relate to our lyrics in their own ways; however, this song may need some clarification. After one listen to the song, I’m sure most people will find it a bit political, but we are – in no way – a band with a political agenda. We wrote the song right as the uproars in Tunisia and Egypt were taking place. The song certainly mirrors the social unrest seen around the world while also touching on my own struggles to find a place in America’s consumer capitalism. Both have inspired the song, the story, and the imagery but in no way are we calling for or condoning any sort of plan or action of violence against any political figures. It’s just a story. The music paints a picture and evokes a certain mood. It may reflect certain parts of reality or society but it’s processed through fictitious narratives or sometimes just abstractions.”

HRVRD also recently premiered a stripped down, live performance version of “Cardboard Houses” that can be viewed HERE.
