NIGHT VERSES PREMIERE NEW TRACK “INFINITY BEACH” WITH METALSUCKS
Today, Southern California progressive instrumental rock trio, Night Verses, premiered their new track “Infinity Beach” with MetalSucks. The single is the second taken from their forthcoming album From The Gallery Of Sleep – available for pre-order now ahead of it’s June 29th release on Equal Vision Records. The first single “Phoenix IV: Levitation” premiered earlier this month with Revolver Magazine. Following the album release, the band will be heading out on a full US tour in July with Strawberry Girls.
Earlier this year, the heavy post rock outfit, shared the news that they would be continuing on as an instrumental band without their long-term vocalist and surprise released their first new music, a 3 song EP, Copper Wasp. While that sort of change up might have knocked a band back a few steps, Night Verses have come through as an entirely different beast, letting each member shine all the brighter.
Now Night Verses are preparing to release their new full length, From The Gallery Of Sleep, redefining what a progressive metal band can sound like, pushing the boundaries, not only without a vocalist, but by bending the sounds that are “generally acceptable” within a heavy record. Second single “Infinity Beach” utilizes subtler tones than the majority of From The Gallery Of Sleep, while still remaining incredibly intricate.
Speaking on the track, drummer Aric Improta, says:
“This song was initially a huge stretch beyond what we are normally comfortable writing. We’ve had some influences lingering from the past few records that had slight effects on our music, but never really surfaced as clearly as they do on this track. From Portishead to Pink Floyd to Massive Attack to Opeth, we did our best to pay homage to our less predictable influences without losing sight of who we are. It was also rad because Will Putney was super versed in the records we dug from those bands, so he did an amazing job crafting different tones than the rest of the record, to help emphasize what we were going for. Also, the entire outtro came from a 40 minute drum solo I wrote and performed this past summer at Meinl’s Drum Festival in Germany entitled “Blur-Lights in the Videodrome.” It acts as the intro to the solo, but once Nick and Reilly added bass and guitar, it brought it to a completely different place and made it feel much more suited to the rest of the record. Overall we didn’t know what to expect when going in to record this track, but oddly enough it ended up being one of our favorites. Side note, I’ve found that this song sounds best when played while skating by the beach.”
Originally formed in 2012, they went on to sign with Equal Vision Records and share the stage with acts such as Converge, letlive., The Chariot and more. While the loss of a vocalist might break other bands, Night Verses’ live show, which they’ve always been highly regarded for, has only grown more intense and dynamic.
