Pierce The Veil “Selfish Machines” Debuts At #1!
Pierce The Veil’s sophomore album, Selfish Machines, debuted on Billboard‘s “Heatseekers” chart at #1! Their 2007 critically acclaimed debut, A Flair For The Dramatic, had entered the “Heatseekers” chart at #61, which indicates a sales increase of over 400%. The new album also debuts at #16 on Billboard’s “Top Independent Albums” chart, #98 on SoundScan’s “Top Current Albums” chart, and #105 on Billboard’s “Top 200 Albums” chart.
The band–Vic Fuentes (vocals/guitars), brother Mike Fuentes (drums), Tony Perry (guitars), and Jaime Preciado (bass)–took inspiration from their fans and years of non-stop touring into consideration when writing Selfish Machines, so the first week’s success is especially thrilling for them. “It honestly means the world to us that our fans are getting behind the new record,” beams Vic. “It is such a newly revived feeling to see them singing the new songs with us on Warped Tour and going just as crazy as we are on stage. We’re gonna try to cover as much of the world as possible on this album and squeeze as many shows in as our bodies and voices can handle.”
“All of Pierce The Veil’s hard work on making a great record has definitely paid off,” says Equal Vision Records CEO Steve Reddy. “They’ve shown how dedicated they are to their music and their fans with Selfish Machines. We’re so proud of them and couldn’t be more thrilled about the amazing chart debut.”
Pierce The Veil shot a video in Los Angeles last week for the first single, “Caraphernelia,” with director Robby Starbuck (August Burns Red, Breathe Carolina). It’ll be ready for TV and Internet airplay in the coming weeks.
Since its June 22 release on Equal Vision Records, Selfish Machines has been racking up rave reviews:
“It puts a boot deep in your guts from the get-go…” –Robert Ham, Alternative Press
“…an album that proves talent and tenacity can transcend trends.” –Ryan Ogle, Outburn
“…this album holds the weight of the anticipation it has accrued.” –Andy Mescher, Music Connection
“San Diego’s Pierce The Veil have a real listen-again quality to them; there’s an element of creativity that makes you think ‘Wait, are they really contrasting a fast metalcore riff with handclaps, and chugging guitars with classical piano – all on the same song (‘Besitos’)?’” –Amy Bangs, Rock Sound (U.K.)
In touring news, the band is out on the in-progress Warped Tour through August 15 in Portland, OR.
