RISING FAWN PREMIERES NEW SONG “JEREMY ENIGK”
Today, Rising Fawn is premiering a new song, “Jeremy Enigk” via Artist Direct!
The Tyler, TX-based indie duo will release their debut full-length, Sifting Through Sadness, on August 28 via Rory Records – Max Bemis of Say Anything’s imprint label within Equal Vision Records. Rising Fawn features guitarist/vocalist Chauntelle DuPree-D’Agostino of Eisley and her husband, guitarist Todd D’Agostino, who is also the owner and luthier of Larose Guitars.
“This song is about a dream I had years ago. I woke up and wrote it down. It basically explains my relationship with The Lord. I believe He is THE creator of all things. He is THE artist and we are the work of His hands. Therefore, I strive daily to be in His will; To be a “vessel in motion”. I find my purpose in Him,” DuPree-D’Agostino reveals. “The name of the song came about years later as I was working it out with my guitar and the chords and melody reminded my of something Jeremy Enigk would write, so I named it after him, just as a demo. I’ve always been a fan of everything Mr. Enigk has done and he’s an artist that I’ve always thought deserved more attention then he received! So I decided to keep the demo name, in honor of him!”
Rising Fawn spent 2014 crafting the new album, which was recorded at Eisley’s home studio in Texas and mixed and mastered by Darren King of Mutemath. The resulting effort is a hauntingly beautiful album with special guest instrumentation and vocals from Max Bemis (Say Anything), Darren King (Mutemath), Sherri DuPree-Bemis (Eisley), and Christie DuPree (Merriment). DuPree-D’Agostino’s reverb laden vocals float dreamily on top of the intricately moving music underneath creating a stunning and ethereal soundscape. Of the new album DuPree-D’Agostino reveals, “This album is an intimate expression of sadness mixed with glimmers of hope and love. It’s about longing and loss and moving on.”
Rising Fawn signed to Rory Records in 2013 and released Everlasting Songs, their debut EP, soon after on June 18. DuPree-D’Agostino shares that they started the band, “mostly for the fun of it. It began with sharing some ideas and creating a sound to accompany those [visions]. It was a good outlet for music that couldn’t exactly fit into Eisley’s style.” Rising Fawn draws influence from artists as diverse as Iron and Wine, Sunny Day Real Estate, Radiohead, and Pink Floyd.
Sifting Through Sadness is available for pre-order now via MerchNOW and includes an instant MP3 download of “Ours For Taking”.
