SADISTIK ANNOUNCE NEW ALBUM ON EQUAL VISION RECORDS; LAUNCH ALTARS TOUR w/ NACHO PICASSO
Some of the best synergy often results from collaborations where the parties involved wouldn’t necessarily seem to be a natural fit. These sort of situations are often where the most progressive art or ideation is born; different influences flying against the grain, colliding to forge new creative paths resulting in something truly special. Thus is the case with the recent signing of one of the most respected names in alternative hip hop, Sadistik, to Equal Vision Records; a label with a well-earned reputation as luminaries in the world of punk and hardcore.
As Sadistik puts it:
“Artistically, I’ve always thrived in the unpredictable & I think signing to a rock label as legendary as Equal Vision is a very meaningful step in this process for me. They believe in my creative instincts & are providing me with a platform that’s going to allow my visions to bloom larger than ever.”
The announcement was made today via a cryptic video posted to both Sadistik and Equal Vision’s socials. It followed a week that also saw the revelation of the Altars artwork, which was done by Michael Hussar (best known for his oil paintings which have sold to the likes of Kat Von D and Madonna) and the record’s official release date of April 14th. Information for a headlining tour this Spring around the release was also announced this week (full dates below) with support from Nacho Picasso and Rafael Vigilantics. All tickets for the Altars tour can be purchased here.
Sadistik has been described as “showing his scars with each song he writes”, as well as, “the cigarette burn rap king”. He’s developed a cult following since the release of his 2008 debut The Balancing Act. His unique style of hip hop, which draws upon “dark imagery, dense wordplay and nontraditional production styles” has gotten more innovative with each of his releases since. In working with Equal Vision, a label known for encouraging their artists to explore uncharted territory and doing whatever it takes to help facilitate the artist’s vision, one can only imagine the new ground that Sadistik will cover with Altars.
