Therefore I Am to Release ‘The Sound Of Human Lives’ on June 23

Boston, MA’s latest hometown heroes, Therefore I Am, have announced a June 23rd release date for The Sound Of Human Lives, the 13-track debut full-length, out on Equal Vision Records. The quintet — vocalist Alex Correia, guitarists Brian Marquis and Travis Alexander, bassist Jim Creighton, and drummer Chris Fernandes — were recently named one of Alternative Press’ 100 Bands To Know In 2009.

After recording Escape, their breakout EP, with producer Mike Poorman (Piebald, Tsunami Bomb, Paulson), it was an easy decision to work with him again on the LP. “Mike works hard and really lets us write what we want to. He becomes another member of the band and pulls the best from you,” explained Creighton. Therefore I Am spent nearly 6 months writing at home in Boston and 2 months recording at Poorman’s studio in Providence, RI. “With the EP, we were playing shows in between writing but this time, we hunkered down and focused on just writing,” Creighton said of the writing process. Compared to Escape, which AbsolutePunk hailed as “blistering rock goodness… an extremely gratifying adrenaline rush,” Marquis says The Sound Of Human Lives is “darker, heavier and more intense musically and lyrically.”

“This record is the soundtrack of our lives. The sounds we’ve chosen, the progressions, and the content, from start to finish, reflects how we were living at the time we wrote it,” Correia described. As the main lyricist, Correia explained most of the album reflects on “the loss of family members, drug addiction, the death of close friends, and various relationships I’ve had and lost in my life.”

Therefore I Am are currently in the middle of a tour with Confide and Oceana. The tour serves as a warm up to this summer’s Vans Warped Tour on which the band will play the Skullcandy stage for the entire run. To say the band is excited about Warped Tour might be an understatement: “We’ve all grown up going to Warped Tour and to watch it grow into the amazing punk rock traveling circus it has become makes it even more of a dream come true to be a part of it.”

As a pre-release, the band has made available a limited edition 7″ vinyl featuring a track from Escape, “45 Miles”, and a remix of the song done by ex-The Receiving End Of Sirens guitarist, Brian Southall. The 500-piece run is pressed on blue/white swirl color vinyl, hand numbered, and only available at the band’s shows or MerchNow.com
